Acoustic Bass Guitar

Post by Clancy » Thu May 10, 2018 4:13 pm

Hi guys.
I'm still alive & still building.
Took forever to get this big bertha out of the workshop.

I used my 17" Archtop mold for the body shape.
34" scale.
WRC top recycled after 50 years as part of someone's house deck.
Indian Rosewood fingerboard, binding & rosette.
Falcate Bracing.
Owner is a professional muso and was very involved in the build.
After a several test runs I got the feel he was after right & he says he loves the sound.

It is great to see one of your instruments here Craig. That is a monster. Looks great. Your own design, or off a plan? What things do you need to alter making a bass, compared to a six string? Obviously the scale length - but do you brace it differently, or anything else different in the construction?
Cheers
Mark
