Hi,
I'm still waiting for the "Design" and "Build" books to come in.
I'm building a '000' size Sassafras SS.
Are the falcate curves critical or can they be 'approximated' from the various images floating about?
There seems a lot of discussion about the CF subject but not much about the actual curves and placement of the braces- or have I missed something already dealt with in another thread?
Thanks in advance

Falcate brace template
Re: Falcate brace template
I had to design up some falcate braces for a multiscale build where bass and treble side braces weren't symmetrical. The basic guidelines I followed:
1. Divide soundboard between each brace into roughly equal areas.
2. Follow Trevor's method where braces pass through bridge area.
3. Follow Trevor's method for gap between ends of braces and edge of soundboard.
Trevor recommends a whippy spline for setting out brace curves. I used a long piece of rosewood binding.

Re: Falcate brace template
This is a fairly close version of Trevor's medium SS. I think the most important bit as Martin has suggested is to make sure they fit cleanly between the bridge pins.
