14 frets OM in Jarrah/King Billy
14 frets OM in Jarrah/King Billy
This an OM style just completed:
Type : OM like shape
Top : King Billy Pine (double thanks Pete)
Back & Sides : Jarrah (thanks Pete)
Neck : 3 pieces laminated Blackwood with Jatoba core.
Fretboard & Bridge : Ebony with dragonfly theme inlays (bit of a team work here), width at nut 45mm with zero fret and 56mm e to E at the bridge.
Koa turtle (present from Hawaii) inlaid on the back of the neck.
Strings: Martin silk & steel
Finishing: Platina shellac.
Very balanced sound with an incredible sustain, definitely another fingerstyle instrument.
Cheers

Very interesting inlay styling. I'd expect that the Jarrah has given the sustain character. Great result.

Jarrah is a good wood for big bodied steel string guitars
Re: 14 frets OM in Jarrah/King Billy
Hi Wayne, my conclusion is that the sustain characteristic is coming with the 3 pieces neck with the Jatoba core. It is an incredibly stiff timber but heavy, hence the 3 piece laminate with a lighter wood.WJ Guitars wrote: ↑Tue Feb 19, 2019 9:44 pmVery interesting inlay styling.
