Number 3 - finished

Finally got number 3 finished today after 18 months hanging around the shop like a bad smell. Pics arent great quality so will do a proper photo shoot sometime soon.

The instrument is a vanilla flavoured Dreadie with Sitka top, IRW back and sides and mahogany neck. Finish is french polish (blonde shellac).

The sound....big but very tonally balanced.

The white bridge pin on the B string? The original ebony pin shot out and smashed against the ceiling during string up...didnt check the ball was seated before cranking up the tuner.

What tapper are the pins? I may have a set of ebony I can send you for being such a tosser

Think I got 3 degree with pearl dots. If you want em, let me know and I will pop a set in the mail 4U.

Looks great Martin.

The FP gives it a nicely subdued feel.

Any chance of recording something for us?

Thanks Mate but Ive got some on order from a music shop and Ill be picking them up tomorrow.

Thanks Mate,

The shop lighting (fluoros plus halogens) is giving the finish a slightly golden hue.

Will be handing the guitar over to some musician friends so will get them to record something for the forum.

Martin bro she looks great!!!

I like the EIRW on this one since it is more light brown and you can see the details with it not being too dark.

The finish looks excellent too - nice work.

The white bridge pin actually looks kind of cool and you might want to leave it but replace it with a bone pin.

Very well done.

Wow, Martin, only 18 months! You are fast, compared to me - 26 months and counting for #2. "And the beat goes on..."

I do like the look of FP, and this looks really nice. Was this the UBeat hard shellac?

Started off with Ubeaut Hard Shellac (old formula) on the back but had issues with crazing so scraped back to wood and went with blonde shellac flakes.

Very nice guitar - you've finally made one that goes with your name!! The muncea in the last photograph looks interesting though - is that what they mean by a brushed shellc finish

"Big ,. . . but very tonally balanced" sounds like "small but perfectly formed", I bet it's a proper gonad shaker and banjo killer!!

I think that bridge pin thing is really cool and should become a design feature. Perfect for the rock god on stage at the end of the gig - he turns to the audience and the bridge pins shoot out to them one by one. Clapton would kill for one of those . . . or Jack Black

Yep I agree, keep the white bridge pin and make it your signature. I think that the whole thing has come together well, but please lose the carpet!

Gave the guitar to two of my musician friends for a play and they fell in love with the instrument. Ended up letting them take it home for a few weeks to give it a serious work out. I get the impression its the last Ill see of the guitar!

Really fine looking guitar Martin. I like the "less is more" look to this one. That top looks fantastic under FP.

Thanks for the positive comments guys. I was around at my friends place last night. We had plans to go to the movies but ended up cracking a Rockford's Single Vineyard Series Shiraz and playing guitars into the early hours of the morning. Got to reaquaint myself with guitars 1 (OM) and 2 (classical) as well as the latest instrument. Ended up crashing on the lounge room floor with a cat for company as well as my guitars. A great night out.
