Automatic Kerfing Machine
Automatic Kerfing Machine
I been away from the Forum for a while so I'll update on what i'm up...I've been building this Automatic Kerfing Gizzmo to fit on the bandsaw...Finaly got hold of the motor to completed the prototype and get it working...One problem i've come across is the drawer slides are vunerable to sawdust and can get clogged up so I recommend some sort of covers or tape to stop the dust getting in.
Here is the final video of it in action.

I'm thinking of making a few of these in the future and have already got another part done (a Deluxe version) This time i'm using linear bearings to get around the dust problem. here are a couple of pic's of the progress of Mark II

Now that I'm impressed with! It appeals to my engineering genes, needs to be a bit more "steampunk" though Excellent job Ken

Finally I got all the parts together and completed MK II...Tested it out today and it works just how it should. I've started work on two more.
I'll most likely sell this one but it won't be cheap .. But it will soon pay for itself if you plan to sell linings it will handle strips up to 10mm in height, but that can be increased by fitting riser plates under the top board and cam...Here are some more pic's

How much??
Re: Automatic Kerfing Machine
I just sold one by auction on eBay UK and it went for £ 340 ...more than I expected ..and it went to a boat builder.

Very nice beat the hell out of my pencil line and stop ops I missed one ,my engineering background says a lot of thought has gone into your set up congratulations on the effort.
John ,of way too many things to do.

It's a nice looking bit of kit but it's missing something.......a built in mini nuclear reactor.

Re: Automatic Kerfing Machine
I know this is an older post and I am new here but I am interested in building one and would like to know what motor you are using . I have found a 30 rpm ac 110 volt on ebay that looks similar but not sure . Would you care to share some information on this unit you have built. This is a very nice unit.
