Marios wood

Post by 56nortondomy » Thu Jun 05, 2014 7:06 pm

After nearly 4 months the Lutz i ordered off Mario finally arrived. It looks to be ok for the most part, there is a black stain of some sort on the archtop set i don't think it's mould and it'll be out of the template area. The acoustic set had a couple of hairline splits which i've stabilized with CA, so the outcome isn't as bad as it could have been. Not bad looking sets Wayne, it does annoy me when people write or draw on timber with texta pen though, you never know if that is going to penetrate deep enough to have an effect on the finished surface, a timber crayon or pencil is a better choice.

Which is the reason why he only could afford to seal one end of the set.

Good for you. It would be interesting though to know if the advertised dimensions included the golden pink curly sealing stains or not.

The stains are inside the advertised dimensions Markus, i think they must have been picked up in transit somehow, because they weren't there on the photos when i ordered it. Wayne

Wayne, if the photos you have seen when you purchased the set were indeed those of the set you got, packaging must have been quite poor and the responsible one is on the list of those who make me suffer...

Glad to see you weren't stung too badly Wayne and you are satisfied with the purchase (after all, it's only you it has to please :D ). What grading did Mario give these or do they just get less exuberant names as the grade decreases?

It was so long ago now Nick i can't remember what grade it was ( it's a bit hard to understand his grading system, for me anyway ), i do remember it's supposed to be at the higher end of the scale. Wayne

The packaging would have been perfect.......for a 4 month fungus festival.

I don't think it's a grading system Ernie, but rather an attempt of an homage to Bob Dylan.

Ernie, I'm not a Dylan fan either, it's not my YT channel. But the song title just hits the nail and the bear smiting his forehead was a nice bonus.

I see Mario is taking it to another level now, gotta admire his dedication

"Only we can offer real Hybrid Mario wood "

I wonder if he is using artificial insemination or doing it the old fashioned way?
