Some trees with potenial around the yard.

Hi all, I got interested to see what was around the folks yard today for timber work and took a few pics.
There are some camphor Laurels aswell but I couldn't be bothered walking down to them.

Your folks have a very interesting yard there Will. While on the subject of timbers yet to be logged, does anybody have any pics of some Blackwood or Silky oak with the leaves still on? Ya never know when you're gonna come across a council contractor about to stick some valuable tone wood through a massive chipper, in which case the persuasive powers of a slab of VB could see a nice chunk of tone wood in the back of my ute, ay!

Here Ya Go Rod, some silky oak or Grevillea, Sorry They Are not clearer, The Grevillea is in flower at the moment golden flowers as shown in the pic

some nice trees there. You might want to check on the brush box though. It usually has a smooth bark. The bunya looks a good size. I find knots are the biggest issue when milling it. The red cedar has nice form. Personally I would let it grow a bit longer.

Would you believe the Bunya and Red Cedar are the same age. There was another bunya pine not 10m from that one and only 3yrs younger but had a diameter of only 200mm. This big one beside the house has a dia. of around 850mm.
I would probably be shot for cutting down the red cedar anyway so I better keep away from it.

Thankfully the nuts tend to fall straight down and not on the house. They even break the branches off from their weight. We rope off the area during nut season as they come down fast and hard.
In the last big season (every 3 years) there were over 30 nuts each the size of a bowling ball. The fence is in pretty poor shape after that.
