Another fine offering courtesy of Tim Spittle at Australian Acoustic Tonewoods in the form of a Set of Wandoo.

This Auction finishes at 12 noon on Saturday 31st and will be the highest bid before the sun hit's the yardarm and I'm knocking the top of the first frothie.

Ahhhhhhhh! Another gorgeous set, you bloody bastards!

I have no home - my wife evicted me.

I have no food - I am starving to death.

I have no water - I am dieing of thirst.

I have no clothing - disgustingly naked.

My friends and family have all abandoned me.

I have nothing.

Well, almost nothing.

I do have $121 that I got for selling a kidney (without water, who needs 2 kidneys anyway?)

What's the story behind Wandoo, where is it from, what's it known for etc?

A gum tree from south-west WA. According to 'Forest Trees of Australia': heartwood yellowish to light reddish brown, fine-textured, with wavy or interlocked grain, very hard & very strong, tough, stiff; density 1040-1155 kg/m3; used for railway sleepers, poles, flooring, and all forms of heavy and light construction.

I plan to resaw this set into thin veneers - enough to give me enough square footage to build a shelter for myself, shelter from the sun and wind and cold and to hide my hideous nakedness. I will squeeze the wood, and will get a few drops of water to quench my thirst. I will chew on the edges of the wood to extract some fiber, to put something in my belly. And, it will be my friend.

That's the story behind this particular Wandoo!

Well Nick,

Whatever Dennis has been taking will have been filtered down to and through the kidneys. As he now has only one, it is likely to be found in quite concentrated amounts here...

He seems a bit hard up at the moment, especially if he plans to outbid your last offer. Hmmm. I'd be offering up $50 for his last kidney, that should be enough for one adult dose.

It will also, incidentally, take him out of the bidding war, permanently.

Things are looking up for me!

I decided to sell some blood plasma in order to trump Mr. Nick O's bid. Luckily for me, I am an expert in origami. Completely naked, but in possession of 121 one dollar bills, I folded and linked them together and fashioned myself a pair of rather small underwear. I carefully pulled them on, and was able to tuck my private parts behind several faces of George Washington. Please do not ask me how many George Washington heads it took to hide my manhood - it was quite a cold day, and there was a shrinkage factor...

I was, however, now legal to walk through the city and down to the blood plasma center. Dehydrated, I was only able to supply 1 pint of blood plasma, which they purchased for $5 - just enough additional cash to apply the coup de grÃ¢ce to our unsuspecting Mr. O (you thought you had me - ha!)

I was given several slices of orange to eat, which quenched my thirst, and I left the plasma center to look for a cardboard box to live in until my Wandoo set arrives here and provides me shelter (and friendship.)

As I stepped outside, a police officer spotted me, and because my wanker was wrapped in dollar bills, he assumed I was a prostitute and arrested me. I now have a temporary bed, have had a delicious meal (it was a glob of a gray wiggly substance with raisins, or at least I think they were raisins), and temporarily have a nice new bright orange uniform. And I have $126. Things are looking up!

I'll bid every penny that I have: $126.

There are some who would regard this particular set as a bit of Oarstaylia's cultural heritage. A bit like the Elgin Marbles are to the Greek. It is also not widely known that Tim personally raised this tree as a bonsai in his backyard till a pang of conscience got to him and he took it deep into the scrub to release it. When he returned to that spot years later it still recognised him and he felled it with his great great great grandfathers own handsaw. Of course its screams as it fell were "whaddaya dooooo.........." which has been mistranslated for the sake of the less literate.

This auction game works a treat I reckon, and knowing it also helps out Bob and in keeping this forum up and running is a great feeling.

Three cheers for ANZLF...

This will sit well with my other Wandoo sets from Tim but not for too long.
A few other hybrid builds to get sorted first.

Yep I'll document this set in a build in the not too distant future, although since Dennis and Allen piped up I was planning on making my own custom built tooothpicks out of this set. Oh well........
