If youre wondering about the loud music...it's to drown out the screams when he runs his fingers through the blade. Nice work on the reindeer but when Im working on my bandsaw my fingers never get in front of the blade....I also invest in a pair of safety glasses and earmuffs. Sorry to be negative but people working on machinery with no safety gear and taking risks freaks me out.

Obviously an American video, I don't think the health & safety message has reached that continent yet. I've watched countless episodes of American Chopper (and it's ilk), grinding sparks, drilling swarf e.t.c and haven't seen a pair of safety glasses or ear muffs.... yet (unless you count Tuttel jr's shades as saftey wear)

Being an engineer and having worked with guys who don't have all 10 digits or one eye, I'm with Martin... makes me bum twitch.
Clever blade though.

*Disclaimer* - Opinions expressed in above post do not apply to members of this forum that reside on above mentioned continent...you guys would wear all the saftey gear im sure

A class full of kids on a panel saw thats scary. The day we bring in licencing for electrical tools and static machines the sooner better.

American Chopper sucks these days but I was a big fan of the show in the early days... What's changed, IMHO, is there is far less creating of cool bikes going on and far more of the principals acting like TV stars in contrived settings.

I also have not seen a door kicked in in far too long so I think that the show which once qualified as reality TV has lost it's way and the roots that made it what it is.

BTW I started building guitars partly because of this show. I would watch it and get into the theme inspired bikes and thought that building something, anything would be cool for me to do. So I tried stinkin guitars....

OTOH the girlfriends are HOT and that was not something that was included in the early shows....

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, regarding safety... how many times on American Chopper do we see someone tack a part in place with a torch with someone else holding the part in position and the holder has NO, nada, none eye protection on..... Poor form I agree.

Last series I saw was 4 I think & it always tickled me how they approached tack welding....hold part in position, aim MIG torch at said part, close eyes, pull trigger, release trigger after hearing a few seconds of crackling sound, open eyes to see if you've glued new part to frame.

Went downhill after Vinnie left IMO.
