Wow Matthew - nice post 8)

It is interesting to actually 'see' what we always 'knew' they were doing.

And it does look darn cool :) Ahh technology... is there anything it can't do?

So will this insight help us build better instruments though? Not very likely but who cares when it looks so good :)

Cheers,

Jeremy.

I don't know guys, that's hard for me to believe. With all the computer techno possibilities these days, how do you know what's real?

But I would say, the guy with the guitar definitely needs to tighten up his tuning a bit!

Being the cynical bastard I am  I do wonder why the strings are the only thing that appear to be moving in slow motion. High speed footage I have seen on other programs (Mythbusters et al) the whole shot is in slow motion when played at the normal 25 frames/second. Still interesting footage none the less. The second vid isn't all it seems too, the sixth string wobbles a hell of a lot and on one shot, taken from the headstock end, it's out of focus but the string can be seen wobbling violently where the nut should be.
This has been a party political broadcast on behalf of the Cynical Bastards Party.

it is not slow motion. It is filmed in real time with an extremely fast shutter speed, cutting out the blur you'd normally see. Like a strobe effect.

Thanks for that explanation Matthew, that would make sense when you think about it. I should think about these things a bit better before opening me Gob

Has this also been -

Besides which, there is an easy solution to this fake/real dilemma some of you seem to be having. One of you wealthy luthiers just pop down the camera store and pick up a Canon 5D Mk 2 capable of such feats of shutter flutter. :D

Do some more experimenting with it and post your results on here - we'll be mighty impressed... and we'll even try not to be too cynical. :P

Talk about cynical; I don't believe there's any such thing as a wealthy luthier.

Hi everone ,
If you pluck the E string on your guitar in front of an old television screen (not Plasma) nice and close the string will seem to be moving in slowmo.?

Ill explain myself better. look past the string when you pluck it to the television to get the effect.
