Wow Matthew - nice post
It is interesting to actually 'see' what we always 'knew' they were doing.
And it does look darn cool Ahh technology... is there anything it can't do?
So will this insight help us build better instruments though? Not very likely but who cares when it looks so good
Cheers,
Jeremy.

Being the cynical bastard I am I do wonder why the strings are the only thing that appear to be moving in slow motion. High speed footage I have seen on other programs (Mythbusters et al) the whole shot is in slow motion when played at the normal 25 frames/second. Still interesting footage none the less. The second vid isn't all it seems too, the sixth string wobbles a hell of a lot and on one shot, taken from the headstock end, it's out of focus but the string can be seen wobbling violently where the nut should be.

Besides which, there is an easy solution to this fake/real dilemma some of you seem to be having. One of you wealthy luthiers just pop down the camera store and pick up a Canon 5D Mk 2 capable of such feats of shutter flutter.
Do some more experimenting with it and post your results on here - we'll be mighty impressed... and we'll even try not to be too cynical.
Jeremy.
