I just have visions of my Grandparents very ornate Victorian farm house, on the Canadian Prairie, and sitting in the parlor. Small room with a nice fire place, and some overstuffed chairs, and kerosene lanterns.

Comfortable room, but not very large. certainly not by todays standards of McMansions. This is what I think a parlor guitar is. Small, and intimate. Comfortable to hold, and pleasing to look at.

So much like a soul mate then

Your analogy was kinda spot on though, something you can just pick up and play for hours.
"Jesus Loves You."
Nice to hear in church but not in a Mexican prison.
