Nice work there Rocket, cool choice on the tailpiece.

I deleted the double up of the topic and edited your second image so it would show up. It is a good idea to hit 'Enter' after each image you load and sometimes you also need to back space to the brackets of the image code, eg; to make things work.

Cheers

Kim

G'day Rocket.

Nice looking top.

What are you going to use for back and sides?

Ok ,, this is going to be a 17 inch x 25 scale symetrical archtop, back and sides are blackwood, with x bracing. I havn't decided on the fretboard yet, either ebony, wenge, or rosewood. I'm doing another at the moment, it's a left handed cutaway, sprace top, abit of bearclaw in that, with U.S. cherry back and sides, black binding, will be wired with suspended humbucker. Work is getting in the road of my hobby, hey!
cheers........

Rod - seeing that carved top gets me pretty excited. I'm in the finishing phase of 2 steel strings at the moment, but my next project will be my first archtop. My mind is already thinking it through, though I will be using Benedetto's book pretty much as my guide.
I play an archtop in a jazz trio - the thing that sucked me into guitar building in the first place was a site I stumbled across 4 years ago describing someone's first archtop build. I was smitten!! But, you have to learn to walk before you can run, so it's been dreadnoughts until now. But I can't wait to start.
Thanks for the photo.
Frank
