How to make a truss rod
Hi team I'm a first time builder working on a electric hollow body build. I have a plan that shows a 550mm truss rod I'm having no luck finding one in NZ. Can any one point me in the direction on info how to make one? Cheers
Re: How to make a truss rod
Gore and Gilet's books contain a section on making up truss rods.

Re: How to make a truss rod
Hi, Hi, I used to make my own rods back in the day and still do if I need a custom size. Basic description: They are only one-way acting and consist of a 3/16/steel rod bent in half and taped as shown with aluminum tape One end stops at the brass block while the other goes through the block and is threaded to take a nut of your choice. In my case, I use a Fender-style bullet-style nut.

I got this idea from William Cumpiano’s book Guitar Making Tradition and Technology. I got my book in 1989 but there have been reissues since then. A great book for the beginner.Cheers Taff
