Stewmac on a positive note.

The Vendors and Suppliers Forum is where members are encouraged to post up details of suppliers they have used and had a good experience with. If you have had a bad experience with a vendor then please don't post details of same in this forum as we have no desire to end up being the subject of legal action from a disgruntled supplier...or a member. If you have had an exceptionally bad experience with a supplier then PM or email one of the admins. Note that this forum is not intended as a list of ANZLF sanctioned suppliers...we used to have a forum along these lines but after admins were forced to go into bat to help members resolve issues with a couple of vendors we removed the forum.

Stewmac on a positive note.

Hi, the heat stick neck removal tool I mentioned in my last post had issues. It would not heat the timber as shown in the video of the heat stick demo. I could not get it hot enough to even char the wood as shown in that video. I complained to Stewmac and they sent me another unit.
This however turned out just as good, or should I say bad. They said it would work better if I used the heat control station. My thinking was that without the heat control in the loop, the iron would be running flat out and easily reach the temperature claimed in the advertising and the control would be used to cut back that power. Maybe I was wrong. I wired the iron they sent me into a control unit and it did not run any hotter.
I complained again and they offered me a refund, which I accepted. Now I have two neck heating tools for the cost of the freight on one of the units. As a bonus, I found a problem with the heat stick and modified it, and now it works much better. Stewmac has always replaced faulty items over the years with no fuss.
