Global alert to high profile musicians....

Post by seeaxe » Fri Apr 22, 2016 9:36 am

The list grows...

Lemmy Kilminster
David Bowie
Glenn Frey
Maurice White
Keith Emerson
George Martin
Jon English

And now

Prince

Can't claim to have ever been a Prince fan but clearly I am wrong (again) as the rest of the world seems to be. Fairly global leading headline, never mind Syria, migrants, etc. Even beat reports of provincial secondary school tiddlywinks competition to the front page of Granny Herald!

Perhaps aliens have secretly invaded and are taking out our cultural leadership?

Nah.....it's just the fact that alot of us are at an age where our teenage rock heroes who are usually a bit older than us are falling victim to their mortality.

re Prince....the guy is actually a very underrated guitarist. You don't see him at his best on most of his videos but if you scout around Youtube there are some clips of some blistering guitar work.

I missed out Percy Sledge. I was definitely a fan of his.
And Natalie Cole.

The good old Beeb agrees with Martin and says it's because the baby boomers are all hitting the increased clog-popping age of 65 plus

And there are more famous people these days.

They say we can expect the trend to continue. a depressing thought.

Not only guitar but a talent on so many other instruments, not just able to play them but play them bloody brilliantly. The guy had funk running through his veins and wrote not only memorable songs for himself but for many other artists also. Could be a little 'out there' at time for me but the foundation stuff I'll always be playing through whatever medium is in at the time.
Doesn't pay to be famous in 2016 it would seem! too many good artists going south.
"Jesus Loves You."
Nice to hear in church but not in a Mexican prison.
