Tonewoods
Re: Tonewoods
Changing the subforum name to 'Australian/New Zealand" tonewoods would make more sense.....we'll have a think about it.mickeyj4j wrote:Hi I have seen a specific topic here for [Astralian Tonewoods just wondering why there is none for New Zealand Tonewoods.
Please note that we let Kiwis on this forum as a favour to our brothers across the ditch......however if we start giving them their own subforum it won't stop there...
Any other comments from other forum members welcome on this one.

Re: Tonewoods
The tonewoods forum is open for anyone to post information.
It's just that no one has posted about New Zealand tonewoods.
Most of the Australian tonewood entries were done by me (or TJ.Spittle) a while back.
I suspect it may be a protest about the "underarm" incident.
Regards

Re: Tonewoods
Christian started a sub-forum within the Aussie tonewoods thread viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3647 with specific regards to NZ woods. The simple and sad fact is that there are less timbers available as a decent tonewood in NZ, most natives just don't grow big enough (hobbits included!) apart from Kauri of course! Finding bits big enough is the limiting factor these days. Rarefind timbers is one company that sell a small number of natives for instrument building, you could maybe email them if you want to know the technical specs of the various types?
