Nasty Feedback, Damn Nervous

Post by ozziebluesman » Sat Jun 20, 2009 6:16 pm

This is my first tune performed at the Palm Creek Folk Festiva held on the Queens Birthday weekend in June 09. The tune is written by Junior Parker, Sam Phillips and is called "Mystery Train". I was very nervous as this is my first gig performing on lap slide. I mixed up a few of the lyric's too but to bad more than likely I was the only one who noticed! The workshop went for an hour where I presented the history of the Weissenborn Lap Slide guitar, demonstrated several tunings and discussed slide and playing technique. There where 25 people who attended the workshop with a few interested people who asked great questions. I was damn nervous so that helped my presentation no end. I performed 9 tunes in all with vocals in four of them. All up, it was a great day and helped to promote slide guitar as a fun way to express yourself musically.

There is some nasty feedback in the song so if anyone knows how to edit that out I would be very interested in how to go about that. The file is a MPEG-4 Movie, mp4

Thanks for looking and maybe listening.

Cheers

Loved it, Alan! You sounded really good!

That short spike of feedback is just a signature of live performance, and was not a problem.

I was worried when I first saw your thread title - worried that someone had written something nasty about you, you know, "nasty feedback." I was relieved!

Well Done, Alan! You were great. Performing is something that I aspire to so good on you.

I love the sound of lapsteels. Maybe I got to make me one!

I would have loved to have attended your workshop. Good on ya for having the guts to get on a stage. You didn't embarrass yourself, just the opposite.

Thanks so much my friends for all your comments. The day was a great experience for me that I will do again next year if the opportunity presents itself.

Chopper the pickup is a k&k mini western.

Cheers
