Soprano ukulele
Spruce (Engelmann) / Mahogany / ebony bindings
It's been a little while between builds due to moving to Brisbane + setting up a workshop again, so I took on a 'smaller' project... a soprano ukulele. I still haven't got all the machinery sorted yet, so it was mostly back to hand tools bar the router and dremel. It's nice to be making sawdust again.
Finish is shellac (kusmi button lac), just padded on over a couple of days without any oil. I didn't bother with pore-filling.
I'm happy with the sound - it's a loud uke, and sounds quite sweet and spruce-y, as might be expected. Not as jangly as an all-mahogany and with a touch more sustain.
