New OM guitar
My latest OM guitar. Traditional woods, Red Spruce (Adirondack) top, Honduran Mahogany back and sides. The mahogany is around 40 years old, I got it from Curley Pete, came from a deceased estate, so I got lucky. This Mahogany has good colour and rings like a bell, but no figure in the wood. River Red Gum rosette, Blackwood bridge, African Mahogany neck, and figured Maple bindings. First full size guitar for a while, last one was around 2 years ago. The guitars move slowly so I have been concentrating on mandolins and small tenor guitars that have been flying out the door, but this one is worth the wait. Nothing real flashy in the looks, but that changes when it is played. Best sounding guitar I have made so far, no question. Blows away my reference guitar. I have made some nice guitars that I thought sounded better than the reference before, but the reference always put up a good fight. Against this one, no contest. There is something special about that Adi Spruce and mahogany combination. I still have another 2 sets from the same plank, so is very pleasing.

Nice one Peter. That is just how a OM should look in my opinion. And I will take your word for it that the sound is right on. Are you doing bolt on neck joints, or dovetail?

Re: New OM guitar
Bolt on neck, and I am not a guitar player and cannot do it justice so no sound sample until I can persuade a real guitar player to play it a bit in front of a mic.

Re: New OM guitar
It is Target Coatings EM2000, a water based alkyd resin varnish. What's the finish on that instrument?
