Howdy Folks,

Just noticed the prompt to be vaguely active so here's some activity

Finished this classical build up in Newcastle, with Paul Lambert, having been inspired to build a guitar while travelling in Spain in 2016 and meeting a few players & luthiers in my travels around Jerez/Seville.

Top: Engelmann
B&S: Paduak - tap tone before construction was like glass - really something...
Neck: Qld Maple
Fretboard: Bloodwood
Rosette: Paduak & Maple from memory
Finish: Matte Nitro

Paul's an awesome teacher/mentor and really happy with this Guitar... Balanced beautifully between 1st & 6th strings... less sustain that i'd hoped, more attack than i'd expected...

A decent classical guitar and an awesome flamenco guitar

I keep facing this issue of the rosette. I would prefer to not use a commercial one but I also don't want to spend what would probably be weeks doing a traditional one. That one looks good.

What are you using for the bridge and saddle?

The bridge?? I'm gonna go with Bloodwood and Carbon Fibre... I'm thinking it may have been Paduak instead but Bloodwood makes more sense.. either way, it was Deep Red. Saddle was tusk

The Rosette... created in Adobe Illustrator and cut at a local laser cutter. Not particularly impressed with the result but it definitely looks better now it's on the guitar.

I'd really like the opportunity to learn how to make a traditional rosette - if anyone had the patience to pass that knowledge on toa somewhat slow learner...

Other option is design a rosette and outsource. There are a few builders around that build rosettes for other people.
