Spruce/maple 1864 Torres 'inspired' classical

Strung up my latest build tonight....

Maple/spruce 1864 Torres “inspired" classical guitar, including a mini tornavoz. I really like maple.

Slightly shorter scale length - 636mm rather than the standard 650 and a 12 hole tie bridge. Bloodwood bindings, stripey blackwood bolt on neck with a truss rod.

I’m happy with the sound - as good if not better than the last one (same dimensions and bracing but rosewood/spruce). I like how these smaller classicals are turning out so the next build will be the same shape in Australian blackwood and either spruce or cedar.

Thanks! Yes, as is the bracewood - from Graham Hein at Kootenay Tonewoods.

A while back when I bought a bulk lot of tops I accidentally ordered a bunch of bracewood by adding 20 pounds to the order rather than 20 dollars, but the upside is I am set for great bracewood for a long while!

While it cant be seen from the outside I was pretty happy with how the internal guitar looked... its a blonde interior. Laminated maple linings, maple side braces, and spruce elsewhere.

Graham's wood is quite stiff.....I love the stuff. Torres bracing or falcate?

Torres bracing. I’ve had good results with this bracing layout and the smaller body shape.

I am not a fan of epoxy - the main reason i have steered clear of CF and falcate bracing so far...

Epoxy is certainly a pain to work with compared to AR or hide glue but a classical with falcate bracing is just such a different beast.
