This commission came about in an odd way that you might find amusing. I've heard from many pro builders that it's really difficult to sell in your own back yard. And I would have to say that this is true for me as well.
This client had wanted to spend a sizeable amount on a custom instrument, and had searched online from some fairly high end retailers overseas, going so far as to request pictures of what he could get for the amount of cash he was willing to put down. But nothing floated his boat. Turns out that two of the outlets that he was dealing with were familiar with my work, and when they found out he lived not 1 hour from me, said that he should look at my work.
It turned out to be a pretty easy commissioning process. Wanted Zircote and Englemann with a slot head and a MISI pickup. Everything else was left to me.
