Another Falcate Uke.

After seeing and hearing Craig Clancy's Falcate Uke I decided to have a go at one, this is my first uke so it was al learning exercise , but I did enjoy making it very much,

I got a few Pointers from Craig about what he learnt from the Falcate ukes he made and went from there, I made my braces a bit higher than his and my top a bit thinner , to me it sounds great , it's responsive and has more sustain than I expected , but I have nothing to compare it with so hopefully I can catch up with Matt and Jeff for a peer reveiw and a comparison.

The specs are :

Tenor , 17" scale .

B&S : Blackwood
Top : WRC
Neck: Blackwod.
Fretboard : Burdakin Plum
Headplate: Burdakin Plum
Bridge : Blackwood
Bindings : Blackwood
Back Braces : Old growth Oregon
Falcates : KPB and CF.
Rosette : Kooba Burl
Tuners : Grover

I'll post the plot when I'm in the mood to set up the PC and collect it and swap notes with Craig.

Nice bit of kit, Paul, & a first for the Burdekin plum on the forum that I can find. how does it rate for hardness?
Ease of string change with that pinless bridge idea, what strings BTW, & any pic's of the bracing by chance?

Gaz

A very nice uke! :cl

The square heel looks quite special (looks like you could hide a cigarette box inside  ).

Thanks Gaz,Nick and Markus for your kind comments.

Judging by the trouble I had getting the frets in , pretty bloody hard.

The strings are Diadario's with a wound C , don't know if they are considered good or not , but they are what I had.

As soon as I figure out how to get the Pic's off my phone I'll post some of the bracing.

Cheers,

Wow what a cracker Paul!!! looks fantastic, such a warmth in your combo of timbers and perfectly executed.
I will shortly be joining the Uke gang with my own take on it.

Cheers,

Christian.

 Right you are Ollie  I stand corrected...must be spending to much quality time in the shed & not enough R & D on the lappy,so, a leaf from Localele's wisdom "Preparation prevents the other 3 P's :cl :cl
Awesome effort, Craig, with your maiden instrument, the Burdekin plum really adds character!!

Cheers
