King billy & Amboyna nylon

I've been a bit slack at sharing my finished builds of late. So here is a nylon build I finished a few months ago. It is a falcate braced with a king billy soundboard and amboyna back, sides and neck, flame maple fretboard and bridge. It is hard french polished.

Thanks. Wayne the rosette is fish scale pattern made from amboyna off cuts from the back. The amboyna does not show separation like the maple does so it has more of a textured look in photos:

I *love* the cutaway. Venetian and Florentine styles combined! I might have to steal that idea.

It looks like you didn't use carbon fiber in your bracing, but still hit the "ideal" bridge rotation angle. Can you please walk through the basics of how you did this? I'm re-reading "The Books" and I'm not smart enough to figure out how to figure the bracing numbers without carbon fiber. Any tips you have would be appreciated.

Hey Joel, half way between Florence and Venice is Bologna, so I reckon it should be called a Bolognian cutaway. I am sure I'm not the first person to think adding a scoop to a venetian, so steal away.

TBH, I didn't do any calculations just tapped and measured along the way.

As far as carbon fibre goes, as this was my first falcate nylon and a bracing pattern of my own design, I decided not to use CF in case I needed or wanted to trim frequencies post boxing. I wanted to be able to get a plane in through the soundhold and plan the falcates down if it needed. I used Robbie O'Brien's 7 fan braced classical plan as reference for ball park brace dimensions. As it turns out, the air frequency is 96hz, top frequency of 191hz and bridge rotation of 1.9 so nothing was needed post construction. Possibly more luck than anything else
