Lockdown builds
I finished 4 guitars during the last lockdown, one was the archtop i've already posted. One is a HRW classical with master grade Sitka top, it was supposed to go to it's new owner Tuesday but the courier didn't bother to pick it up so it's going Monday ( i hope ). The other two guitars are electrics which i don't build very often but i felt like a change. There's a Tele i built for myself and a PRS style which i just wanted to try. Wayne

Re: Lockdown builds
Wayne, absolutely brilliant! The timber and finish on the electrics and acoustic are all inspiring and look great.

Re: Lockdown builds
Thanks Wayne. I like doing the colour finishes. I've bought 2 more flame maple carve tops and I'm about 70% through s single cutaway PRS . Not quite sure what colour I'm going to paint it yet.

Re: Lockdown builds
They look great Wayne, hasn't lockdown been productive.
Just a question on the Neck wood used on the PRS style build please.
Looks a bit like blackwood to me.
Cheers Mark

You're right Mark, it's some nice figured black wood from Tim at Australian tonewoods.

Hi Al. That's for that, the single cut will be ready for finish in about a week I'll send you a photo. Wayne

Re: Lockdown builds
I'm just getting started on my first build, which will be a tele. I've been tossing up between Chrome or black for the hardware, and after looking at yours I just ordered black... That against the beautiful figure of that top is beautifully understated. Very nice work on all of these!

Thanks Ian. I hate to tell you but the the hardware is chrome, must be a optical illusion because it does look black in the photos. Black will look great though. Wayne

Re: Lockdown builds
it occurred to me after I posted that comment that that may have been the case. Still happy with my choice though - and I think that this looks great either way...56nortondomy wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 9:26 amThanks Ian. Re: Lockdown builds
Thanks again Ian. It really only matters what you like, so if you thought it was black and you liked it that’s great, at least it’s helped you decide. Don’t forget some photos when you get going. Wayne
Re: Lockdown builds
They all look stunning but the PRS stands out to me. That purple(?) wash looks fan bloody tastic. Ive never tried to do that yet but maybe the next one I will.
I think the joy of electrics is that you can go completely away from traditional guitars colours so you have lots of freedom to create something really striking, which you have.
Must get back onto my Tele project.
Thanks for posting!!

Re: Lockdown builds
Thanks Richard. I enjoy doing the painting and trying to get something nice happening. The single cutaway I'm building is almost ready for painting now, I just have to get it sanded.

I already have a WIP thread started. I'll definitely be sharing pics as I go.
