I used to use Schaller - very expensive. Now I use Grover Statite and replace the buttons with either ebony or ivoroid - see Chris Paulick's instruction video on YouTube. He has a whole host of really well shot videos that detail the 'whole' process.

Very nice demonstration Pete. It makes light work of a somewhat tedious job, and the end result is fantastic.

This system took me a long time to develop. the hardest part was proportioning the headstock for ukulele. This design will take a cut down mandolin 4-on-a-plate Schaller set for a Terz guitar.

Brilliant work Peter. I'm positive that were going to be seeing knock offs of your set up popping up in future build threads. Look for it in one of mine.

If I can just get my CNC programming ukulele playing guy to do me a favour, these will be available commercially for 132mm long by 62mm wide headstocks. Just give a short while to try and persuade him I have the dwg files...

Nice work Pete.Now for a harder question. What was the tune in the background? I could only hear snippets in between the routing and can't figure it out.Now it is bugging me. Also are the tabs for it up on your site.

I moved a copy of this thread into the jigs section because it is a simple and clever solution to what can be a time consuming and challenging process to get right.

The tune is an interpretation of the old spiritual Bye and Bye. I guess it#s closest to Catfish Keith's performance...
