In the latest GAL mag Mark French shows some photos of Charles Fox's workshop and there is a very nifty way of supporting the neck when tapering it on the bandsaw.
The problem is that you can only really mark out where the fretboard will sit on the top of the neck. But the heel and headstock means that you can't lay it flat and have to support at the height of the heel.
I have never been happy with my method of using a loose block for this. Charles Fox has constructed a sort of bridge that is clamped to the bandsaw table and provides a nice stable support
