Fitting Geared tuners

Post by timbuck » Thu Jun 13, 2013 4:07 am

I was fitting some geared chinese type Kluson tuners to my cheap guitar project..I did it by eye and the result was not very good they just didn't look right..It's the first time I've done this on a new guitar neck...So I made up a simple device to hold the tuners in line while I re-drilled the pilot holes .. it's just a piece of folded aluminium...the pics will show how it works.

That's a different method than I've seen before Ken. Will have to give it a go as it's got all the elements to be a winner.

Pretty nifty! With this method the machines "line up", but what if you wanted them to go in a curve following the side of the headstock?
