Here is a video I took the other day at my friends shop. He is restoring his 1915 M.Ramirez with original tornavoz.

Wow David
Thank you so much for making this vid availiable to us.
This is a very rare opertunity to look 'inside' at the work of a master and see it in fantasic detail through a lens that knows exactly what to look for, very valuable material indeed.
Must also add that your polished performance of the sound track was pure joy to listen to and I enjoyed it just as much as the video itself
Cheers
Kim

I'm presuming that the white line down the top is a fresh splinter of spruce inlaid for a crack repair. What else was needing repair and restoration? Doesn't look to be in bad nic for a guitar that old.

Thanks for the "birdseye" view David (**Groan** ). Did your friend receive it with the soundboard cracks repaired or is that what he's done on it so far?
Nice tasty bit of playing too!

Thanks David. I always find it interesting to look at the guts of old guitars.
Nice playing too!

Great!
Very interesting, thanks for the effort David.
Is this Tornavoz made of Brass or aluminium or what? I think Torres used brass but possibly only because alloy wasn't available for him.
I've just installed a timber one on... of all things, a tenor uke I'm building. My first experiment with the Tornavoz but I'll be trying more in time.
Jeremy.

Re: 1915 Manuel Ramirez Restoration
Aluminum was worth a fortune around 1900 due to electricity being so new and expensive so it was costly to smelt. Brass would have been a lot cheaper.
Cheers
