Hey Richard
Yes the titebond issue I know exactly what yours ended up like, glue everywhere and paper stuck to it all.
I went away from titebond and started using Mega poxy. this seemed a lot better and a little to no glue seeping through the the layers.
I would assume hide glue would be the best but m not real concerned as I have a truck load of mega poxy and have that down pat.
Yes I went through a few sides till i got it sorted. It also depends on the grain structure of the veneer.I had less seeping with sepele then i did with the blackwood.
Good Luck cant wait to so some picks.
Regards
Tim

Two more questions if you dont mind
How much epoxy did you end up using?
Did you laminate with grain in the same direciton or at 90 degress like normal ply
Actually three more questions....
How many plies? I did 5 and if feels much too much.
Cheers
2. Grain Direction all the same way. As Im using a stack of 4 leafs from a flitch, i wanted it to end up like solid timber.
3. first Uke 3 ply Second and third uke's 4 ply. I will be from now on using a max of 3ply.
I also used off cuts of the 3 ply after shaping for the linings.

I also have a rubber mat in my caul (Jig) on the outer surface to prevent damage.
Another trick is to also get a helping hand to push the veneers ito the caul so you don't get cracking in the center of the veneer. This is due to the sides stopping the veneer from laying down in the center before the sides grab.
I did see a good jig made on this site with hinged sides to prevent this.
