Thickness caliper
Thickness caliper
I'm currently working on a mountain dulcimer as a prelude to having a crack at my first classical guitar. It's a good opportunity to develop the skills I'll need for the guitar project; I haven't ever done a fretboard or fitted bindings before and a dulcimer, at the moment, seems to be a much easier build.
A thickness caliper would be a help for the back, side and soundboard but the £100+ price tag is a bit off putting. I've seen a few DIYs on YouTube so thought I'd give it a go.
The dial gauge was £15 of ebay and the rest was lying about the place. I still have to tidy up the metal work but it's almost there. Next up when I come to bend the sides will be the soldering iron powered bending iron. Great thing YouTube...
