Good to see the old girl again Alan, for what it's worth, I also would go with what you suggested,

Thanks Martin, Jim and Tod.
She is coming together nicely.
I now appreciate how delicate restoring an old guitar is.
One of the cracks I created myself as the sides are extremely thin and brittle.
Cheers
Alan

Re: BRW back and side set with bonus Mahogany neck?
Getting close now to finish. I aged the top with a short black coffee. Maybe I over did the ageing but I can sand it back. I'm happy enough with the look. Being colour blind it is difficult sometimes however I do have good judgement on shade but no idea on colour. I'm going with some low tension strings as the neck has no truss rod but it is a thick one. Here are a few pics of the progress. Thanks for looking.

Re: BRW back and side set with bonus Mahogany neck?
All done.
Its been a long restoration.
Sounds good, smells good and is a joy to play.
I had to replace the machine heads with the stew mac vintage slot head tuners.
I'm using Newtone strings 13s to 55s low tension and they feel and sound good.
The old girl is a bit fragile in places as the sides are only 1.5 mm in places and she has no trussrod.
Sorry about the pictures issues. I used Photobucket to store my pics but had some serious trouble with it so I have moved my pics to Dropbox.
Here are a few final pics and thanks for hanging in there for the finish.
Cheers

Nicely done! what a project! It was fun to watch from the original ebay alert to complete restoration.
