Guitar cases for smaller/parlour guitars

I was speaking with Ian Bush from Artist Guitars yesterday about the possibility of him stocking smaller sized guitar cases.

I thought I'd throw the question out here just to see what sort of interest there would be in a cheap ($79) parlour guitar case probably around the size of an 0-18. Good thing about Ian is he only charges 20 bucks delivery whether it be one or two cases.

These are not top of the line cases but I've seen worse for a lot more dollars.

If I could have a show of interest in how many of these you might use in a year I'll throw the information back at him and let him make the decision if it is viable.

One use I can see for these is to have them in the shop to store in progress instruments so they don't get dented. I've said before they aren't robust enough for a touring musician but for local transport and home storage they are fine.

I'm building an O-18 at the moment - I'm in for one case. I build so slowly that this doesn't translate into guitars/year, but I'm keen nonetheless. Good on you Bob - hope it works out.

Guys - I didn't follow through with this as when I mentioned it in June last year I got very little interest.

I figured that this bloke in Sydney would want to be selling around twenty per year to make it worthwhile getting them made and I had interest in about 6 per year.

I've since been getting mine done at Cedar Creek Cases in the States for around $300 landed.

Bob which case are you getting from Cedar Creek? I emailed Artist and they were non comittal. I have also found a TKL case at Elderly that is about $220 landed (the case is only $90).

I get my cases from Cedar Creek as well. If it's an odd sized one that they don't stock you have to plan on 3 months lead time, but it's a really nice case and they give luthier pricing that is hard to beat. Never had a problem with them, thought the last case for some reason took a detour through Moscow for about a month. Not their fault, but USPS just stuffed up.

+1 on Cedar Creek cases. I get most of my mandolin cases from them, the rest from Presto for those who want a flight case, or the best money can buy. Both will do custom orders, but Presto are resricted to the fibreglass moulds they already have. I have one guitar case from Presto, and it is excellent, I ordered another one straight away. So, +1 on Presto cases as well, they are made in Perth. Once Cedar Creek have the measurements and outline of your instrument, it takes around 3 months to get the case. They give you a number, and you quote that number every time you re-order the same case, but you can customise colours etc. It took a couple of cases to get the mandolin cases 100% exactly as I wanted, but now I am getting perfect fit every time and no other problems with the cases. The cheap shop cases were driving me insane. One case would fit, the next would not, yet it was the same manufacturer and the same model of case! The Chinese still have a way to go with QC. I've given up on them.
