Double cutaway electric (Qld walnut, tassioak)

Post by Deano » Sun Mar 01, 2009 7:33 pm

Hey guys,

Here's my latest project. A double cutaway using Qld walnut for the body and neck, figured Tassie Oak top and a Gidgee f/b and headstock veneer.

Ok, here's a sneak peak of the body and template. Got something cool planned for the pickups, but we'll get to that later.

Just a few pics to show the progress of the neck.

This is a jig I made to get my 10 degree neck angle, I rough cut the angle on the band saw, and then follow it with a few passes on the jointer.

I then glue on the headstock veneer and fretboard.

And this is where I am now.

Ill post more pics soon,

Don't stop the progress pics, Deano.
It's looking great.

I reckon that Figured Tassie oak is gonna look brilliant carved up
and coated.

thanks for the replies guys.

Shane, I source my Qld walnut from a local timber yard, but I haven't seen any for a while.

Here's the latest progress. Got the neck pocket, 'inside' pickup cavity's and tone chamber routed.
