Re: Setting correct intonation in an Epiphone Casino
Yes, the scale length is from the nut to the brake angle at the bridge. It will need compensation added to the scale length. Try moving the breaking point back making the scale longer. I would not modify the guitar, if you don't have any luck you should be able to get a replacement bridge with more ...

Hi Martin,
Did you have a target frequency combination in mind? What's the diameter of the soundhole?
Thanks Luke

Narrow Body Acoustic Bracing Patter
I have been asked to make an acoustic guitar similar to the Ian Anderson model by Brooks guitars. It will have steel strings with a 622mm (approx 24.4") scale length. It has a very narrow body only 246mm at the lower bout and would like your thoughts on a suitable bracing pattern. I normally use a X...

Re: Hello and humidity woes
Hi Steve,
I live in Wollongong also, I use a sealed box to store the parts pre glue-up and a dehumidifier in a small room when gluing.
I think we may have met at a party on Australia Day, if you need anything or just want to catch up and talk guitars send me a PM.
Luke.

Nice, your cnc looks to be running well. What software do you use?
Also how do you hold the pieces in place on the final pass?

Re: L1 style guitar
I made my own set of plans in autocad. I traced some images I found on the net, and researched typical dimensions. Then made adjustments to suit my scale length, bracing etc.Did you work off a plan? Where did you get it?

Various jigs
This year I made a "L1" style guitar and here are some of the jigs used. They all are fairly standard but with some additions. I will add some pics of the guitar to the gallery soon. See "file comment" for a brief description. Hopefully the pics are self explanation as typing is not my strong suit. ...

Dehumidifier brand, Model No#
Hi,
I am looking for a dehumidifer to control the humidity in a room inside my house (3m x 4m).
I had a look at a Dimplex GDDE20 and a Delonghi CF08E but they didn't seem to go lower than 50%.
Just wondering what brand and model No# other peolpe use.
Thanks Luke

Re: Electric lap steel guitar
I don't have any advice on the slide guitar but I have used a rotary switch for tone control in an electric I made. I like the rotary switch tone control better than a standard pot arrangement, I think the caps I used were: .22uf .03uf .01uf .003uf .001uf by pass The rotary switch was from Jay car H...

Hi,
Is this the frequency responce for the finished guitar including the bridge? What type of guitar, steelstring classical? Also the white number are hard to read.

Re: resonant frequencies no where to go
Hi sound shooter, Are you building a classical or steel string? What are you target frequencies? I’m am not an expert, I have only made one guitar using Gore/Gilet techniques. It is a steel sting, x braced(sound similar specs. to yours, my sound hole 95mm) but these are my figures. Boxed up with edg...

Hi Alan, I think this is a very cool guitar, I really like the shape and have been inspired to make a parlour style guitar. I am just CAD’ing up my plans, and was curious about your dimensions. Re: Failed Bridge
Hi, I just thought I would follow up on my bridge/glue tests. In the photo: The top bridge is the one that came off, I wiped one half with Acetone until no more colour came out (Jeff’s suggestion) the other half I scraped. Then I glued a strip of spruce on, let it dry for 24 hours. After that I trie...

Thanks for all of your comments and advice. Just to clarify, *The Radius on the bottom of the bridge was not 100% but with a light amount of pressure the joint closed and looked good. *The glue was bought at Carbitec (Sydney) in March this year. Not sure what their stock turnover is like. *I did use...

Re: Falcate Laminating Jig
Hi All, I just thought I would add a photo of the jig I made to glue up my solid linings. I use a two part mould with a positive and negative and clamp the linings between them, its very easy and quick (after you make the jig). I added flat sections so it is easy to get clamps all around it. I used ...

Hi John,
I was just wondering what hardener you got from Carbatec. I remember something in the books about a certain type of hardener for pore filling.
Did you get West System 105 resin and the 207 hardener?
Are you using the same hardener to do your carbon fibre and pore filling?
Thanks Luke
