Re: Designing 12-string guitars and baritones

Pretty simple jig, consists of a recycled fretboard, a movable nut and saddle, which are tapered so I could slide in and out to adjust string height, the feeler guage stuck in the middle sets relief and a old chinese tuner with a bridge pin stuck in the rear, the app is ap tuner for android, it cost...

Re: Designing 12-string guitars and baritones

nut forum.pdf here is the offsets I used, the spacing between the sets is uniform, the distance between the strings is adjusted for string width, still some room for experimentation , the playability is really good, I can't stress enough how loud this thing is especially with the soundport, at leas...

Re: Designing 12-string guitars and baritones

wood vs celluoid

I posed this question on the OLF and got some mixed answers...I am working on #17 and have only used wood for bindings, I ordered some celluloid bindings and purflings from China," I love EBAY" and thought I would try them on this project,,, for those that have used both what are your opinions, how ...

Re: Designing 12-string guitars and baritones

I am retopping a 12 string I built a couple of years ago, there were several things I didn't like about it , neck profile , string spacing , and the sound....which I attributed to being over braced and too stiff.. so the new top is falcate braced, leaving the braces .200 thick and .350 tall, or at t...

Re: Falcate Bracing in Curved Radius?

I laminate 2 pieces of spruce, .080 to .090 thick.. 3/4 inch wide , lightly radius both sides in the radius dish and then cut in two pieces in half and finish to the correct height...not sure if the radius is necessary but doesn't hurt...

Hmm interesting concept the hose analogy!!! :cl I have a new small cnc that opens up a lot of new possibilities in soundhole shape...here is a practice soundboard I was playing with and got me to thinking about the shape, seems to me that as long as the area is the same it should be ok, but I am no ...

Re: Equation 4.5-7

I am using open office calc...my spread sheet comes out to 2.99 for the sample used in table 4.5-3 instead of 2.73 ..close :cl but for some of the formula's I have simply divided by 1000 i.e El and Ec to get the decimal point in the correct place, and why do I have to enter the panel length and widt...

I have modified my jig for more accuracy..and it works well...got that part...I have six runners on the jig for the six strings...my question is on a 12 string I would assume the octave strings are compensated differently on the g thru low e...???? do you have a jig with 10 runners ???
