Re: Bulls Eye Shellac
Paul - I would go with a wipe on varnish and, as you say, there are plenty of tutes out there, You can modify/tweek the custom stuff (Wattyl, Cabots etc) to your heart's desire - advice aplenty on that too.

Re: The Cheap Bastard $7.75 Faux K&K install
Just a thought here people. Playing with this stuff for your own builds is fantastic - sort of amateur R&D - but on a punter's instrument having receipts from let's say K and K and Fishman could save a heap of grief down the road. Do not not do it but please cover your arse by telling the punter wha...

Re: The Cheap Bastard $7.75 Faux K&K install
Mottola and Tilman have piezo preamp schematics and cyberferal.com has tone and volume schematic. Mix and match and play around with resistors and capacitors for whatever.

I would have thought 'squish' would be detrimental - sort of soggy bottom dampening

Re: Santa Cruz Guitar Statement
I recall input from some for whom I have high regard in terms of neck/body work but I think they were basing it on leckies. Really no different in the final call but. Their call was bolt on by a frag from neck-through with set neck a relatively distant third. Those guys built/build and play up in th...

Re: Paint Stripper
Paint stripper may have developed since I last used it about 20 years ago but from lessons learnt then I would not have it anywhere near a piece of wood I had regard for.
In this situation I would be looking at room temperature scraping or sanding.

Re: What is wrong with this Martin Guitar
No 'major' name will intentionally sell a second.
If defects are noticed the instrument will be degraded and sloughed off through a clearing house process whereby the instrument gets another name.
Where was QC? On stress leave and that new kid from "Marketing" was covering?

Re: Classical Guitar Construction
This is where I get a bit tweeky about the five minute thing. Read nervous. I reckon you have a great start in your hands with the Manuel Contreras. Doubt you will get better 'plans' anywhere. Any time I am copying/majorly restoring as in belly/top or back off I build a mold/cradle with papier mache...
