Hi
Anyone know of detailed plans/sketches of how the spanish heel works with a cutaway? What I'm asking is how to mate the cutaway curve into the spanish heel block.
A close look at commercial guitars shows various techniques using filler strips etc.
Thanks in advance

Re: Odd frequency spectrum
I'm working on a simple model that says the rolling moment around the bridge is the issue that needs resisting. I've laminated the primary falcates (tho' they aren't CF reinforced at the moment_ But they are extremely resistant to longituidanal forces. Also- I probably should have installed the brid...

Martin,
No the books were knocked back by local library so-I admit-I'm cobbling info together.

Re: Bandsaw recommendations
I should add a safety caveat- 16mm is oversize for the machine. As I see it the worst that could happen is the blade comes of the pulley. As long as the doors are closed this should be ok.

Re: Bandsaw recommendations
Hi- a bit late but the following might be useful I too have a Hafco BP255. With the stock 12.5mm blade I found it useless on anything other than thin ply-the blade wanders regardless of tension settings. So I got a local shop to weld up a 16mm/.9mm 4tpi German steel blade. It does overhang the pulle...

Odd frequency spectrum
Hi, This is a first crack at a falcate braced top (yep-it needs cleaning up) So I tap tested it out of interest and a strong 57hz spike showed up which isn't present on other acoustics I have. I get that they are fully built and rigid but can anyone explain the low frequency spike? Top glued.jpg Spe...

Re: Hiding a repair
Thanks Steve for the reply.
Yeh I blundered into that one.
All I initially wanted to do was put a decorative strive down the neck(Never again)
Thanks for all the great feedback

Re: Hiding a repair
Thanks Martin,
Are you suggesting that because experience tells you it's easier to hide a dark inlay than light? As in- the glue lines don't stand out?

Re: Hiding a repair
Sure. The bleach is actually starting to work but it also bleaches the surrounding timber which probably compounds the issue.

Hiding a repair
Hi, Does anyone have a tip on hiding a glue line around an inserted 'plug' repair short of 'spraying it out" with tint? I had to insert a filler in a new neck blank to try and fix the dark/light wood boundary but no matter how tightly I cut the insert and tapped it into the slot the glue line won't ...

Falcate brace template
Hi, I'm still waiting for the "Design" and "Build" books to come in. I'm building a '000' size Sassafras SS. Are the falcate curves critical or can they be 'approximated' from the various images floating about? There seems a lot of discussion about the CF subject but not much about the actual curves...
