I usually expect timber from the US to cost as much in shipping as the timber is worth, unless it fits in a flat rate box............

Whoa, I had a bit of a panic and then had a brilliant idea. I've just come back from torching my whole stash and can now confirm that it is (was) all real timber. I feel much better now.

Re: .070" (1.78mm) Bearing for Weiss binding
Do you wrap it so that it overlaps itself of do you need to butt joint the wraps? Serious question. I prefer to overlap the ends of the tape.....I just love it when the router goes bumpity bump and I also love the pretty scalloped binding channel it leaves behind :D Helpful as always..................

Re: Countersinking Bridge Pin Holes
I use a round end carbide burr. It's a hell of a lot more controllable than a plain old counter sink. I didn't know about that bit of stew-mac kit. Not that expensive for what you get.

Come and see me dave. I dont like nitro on necks because it imprints so easily, I am a fan of two pack poly, however these days we use uv clear which is hard as nails and silky smooth to the touch. Your welcome to come up and have a play, just bring some beers along Steve Just how easy is "so easy"...

I don't mind a little mark up to buy something locally but I'll be damned if I'll put up with the sort of rubbish Perry has just pointed out. It seems quite common. The bigger issue for me is the rude and unhelpful "service" in most of the local shops. Half the time they tell me 'it's not in stock w...

Irony being I've been thinking I need to sort out some sort of humidity control if I'm ever to complete current build - didn't think I'd need to add moisture though. For those of you that have built a dry room - what is the smallest area you think is practical ? Mines about the size of a dunny. Jus...

Re: Rubber Banding for holding Binding
I spray a couple of coats of lacquer before cutting the binding channels. This pretty much eliminates the tear out issue. As for snugging up the bindings, I use HHG, synching the bindings into place with the brown paper masking tape from stew mac, then I wrap the whole thing in polyester webbing fro...

Celluloid and Acetone glue
For those who have used this glue for celluloid bindings:
How runny do you want it to be?
How much open time do you get with it?
How long does it take to dry?
Thanks in advance.
