Re: Interesting reading
I have played the Rainsong poly guitars. They sell them here in the states. I have compared them to the Martins, Gibsons, and Taylors hanging on the wall in some local guitar centers on different occasions. They are very loud. I preferred the sound of inexpensive Martin, Gibsons, and Taylors in that...

Re: Macassar Ebony
That is what I thought so I was sanding dry and it would gum up to fast. I'll try walnut oil next time. I would really like to get away from lacquer. I have a nice spray booth that filters with charchoal, but it's still nasty. Thanks

Re: Macassar Ebony
When you finish with micro mesh, do you use water? I have been wanting to switch to shellac from lacquer but have trouble with the final leveling and polishing. I tried applying my coats with a sprayer the same as lacquer, and have nothing but frustration trying to level and polish.

Re: Adirondack spruce
Here is another one I don't know about shipping because I am in the US. Nice guys and if you don't mind compression wood they have some great deals. http://www.ebay.com/sch/hampton_bros/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from= They cut from hand split billits to minimize run out. This includes their least...

Re: grain thru binding
My question is how would you glue the top and back to the sides at the proper depth before replacing the binding.

Re: grain thru binding
For a one off guitar. You could cut the sides over sized in depth bend, and glue them to the head and tail blocks with the extra depth overhanging head and tail blocks on both top and back. Profile them and then use a hand held perfling cutter to cut the binding free at the proper binding width. Glu...

Re: Doming
I build with a domed back, but use no radius dish just a few shims in the right places. You do not need a perfect dome shape. Older guitars do not have one. It is one of the newer developments. After you carve a radius into the braces, even if you force them down flat while gluing, when you remove t...

Re: the wood well
I'll try to get some time either friday or saturday to call them or go there and see what they say. It's kind of interesting to me how in the states we want the woods that you have and visa versa. I love walnut, but blackwood is beautiful and some of your other woods are really nice too. I haven't b...

Re: the wood well
Sorry, Next time I'm in there I'll talk to them about it. I've been buying from their bargain bins where the real deals are. The best buys for you would be billets as their sets are fairly high priced for the nice stuff. I hope I can help with it they have a lot of nice wood seasoned properly.

Re: Nomex tops
I think it would be the same principal as an I beam in construction. It gives a great stiffness to weight ratio. I also think you could build two beautiful sounding guitars buy the time you are done goofing around with it.

Re: Band Saw Tire
If you use a couple of clamps to hold the tire to the wheel to keep it from popping off while you are stretching it on it will go easy, also soak them in hot tap water but, not boiling.
